Goodbye Grantham House
Grantham House in Cranham Street will probably close towards the end of this year. Where will the 30 residents go? Of the 20 or so that have made requests so far, around half want to stay in Jericho, moving to a specially designed block in the new Lucy’s development. Most of the others want to move to sheltered housing elsewhere in the city, while a few have requested ‘general needs’ accommodation in specific locations in Oxford. Residents will get ‘home loss’ and relocation payments totalling around £6,000 each,
As for the site, one possibility is that it could go to a housing association so that the whole of any new development could be designated as ‘affordable housing’.
