Bravery certificates

As mentioned in the previous Echo, three young people in Jericho were commended by the Thames Valley Police for their ‘bravery and calmness’ in helping Joan Cook, who had been robbed in Great Clarendon Street. In September, at a very impressive ceremony, they were awarded certificates. Pictured above with Joan, they are, left to right, Daniel New of School Court, Marley Joseph-Arroyave, of Jericho Street and Lewis Singh of Canal Street.

Keep Jericho tidy

The Community Association will hold another litter pick on Saturday 28th January, meeting outside the Community Centre at 10.00 a.m. Protective clothing and equipment will be provided.

Christmas cheers

Jericho pensioners, 25 in all, tuck into a delicious, and free, Christmas lunch at the Bookbinders on December 12th.

Father Michael

Congratulations to Father Michael Wright who in October celebrated 25 years at St. Barnabas Church – and 40 years as a priest. Both events were marked in a service at the Church at which the Bishop of Oxford spoke of Father Michael’s “long and faithful ministry” and his dedication as a “much appreciated parish priest”.

Threat to Jericho bus

The County Council is reviewing its financial support for the Jericho bus. There is a real danger of a reduced service. If you want to demonstrate support there are forms for a petition, organized by Susanna Pressel, in Lloyds Pharmacy, Londis, the Post Office and Ali’s.
