Issue 56 — September 2004
Briefly
New health centre
When the Radcliffe Infirmary closes, Jericho should get a new
health centre opposite Jude the Obscure in Walton Street. This building
will also house some of the practices in Beaumont Street and should be
large enough to incorporate a pharmacy and many other services, such
as physiotherapy and X-rays that cannot be offered in the current building.
This proposal will be aired at the Area Committee meeting, on 14 September
at St Barnabas School. The meeting starts at 5.00 p.m., but this item
will probably be discussed around 6.30 p.m.
Jericho gets its own WI
Jericho is about to get its own branch of the WI. It will meet on the
second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. Because the Community Centre
is fully booked at present, the WI will meet initially at St Margaret’s
Institute, Polstead Road (next to the Anchor Pub). The first meeting
will be on Tuesday 14 September. Please come along and bring your friends –
and something to eat and drink. For further information call Jane on
553304.
Yet more flats from Lucy’s
Lucy’s are proposing to build a block of flats in the gardens of
44 to 49 Juxon Street. This three-storey block, consisting of six two-bedroom
flats, would overlook St Sepulchre’s cemetery.
